Share a photo or a book with a public link

Publish a photo or a book#

Select a photo and choose Share photo, or share a whole book from its list. You get a short link under abney.cc, ready to paste anywhere. The link unfurls into a proper preview card in chats and on social.

The page is frozen at the moment you share. Keep editing on the desk and the public page does not move. When the new state is worth showing, push a fresh version to the same link. Take the link down and the page is gone.

Publishing needs an account, since the link has to belong to someone. Viewing never does.

A public link is for looking. To move the same photographs with someone, invite them onto the desk.

A shared photo gets a page of its own, staged on the felt you chose and fit whole to any screen. No crop, no scrollbar. A click zooms to full resolution and no further, so the picture is never blown up past its own pixels.

A shared book opens as spreads you can arrow through. Share a photo that lives in a book and the page offers the book too, opened to the spread that photo sits on.

A new Share card on the rail gathers everything you have published: your public links with their view counts, next to the desks you share with collaborators. The count skips your own visits and known crawlers, so the number is people, not you checking on your link.

Social links are off by default. Turn them on per link and the page footer carries your name and your Instagram, Bluesky, or website.

Switch desks from the top bar#

The active desk wears its name on the bar. Click it for the desk list.

The active desk now shows its name on a pill next to the wordmark. Click it to switch desks, rename the one you are on, or add another. Renaming happens in a proper dialog now instead of an inline field.

Finer arranging#

Two upgrades to moving photos around on the desk:

The spacing buttons on the arrange bar scrub. Click one for equal spacing as before, or hold and drag to tighten or widen the gaps live and let go when it looks right. Either way it is one undo entry.
Resizing from a corner now holds the opposite corner still, so the photo stays put while you pull. Hold ⌥ to scale around the centre instead. The edges you are moving snap to the edges and centres of the photos around them, with the same guide lines a move draws.

Export several photos at once#

Select any number of photos, choose Export, and pick a folder. Each photo is rendered exactly as it looks on the desk, edits and all, and written out together.
