Manage every share from the home
Last release gave your photos public links. This one gives every share a place to live: the home now lists the desks and links you share in both directions, and each opens into its own page with its settings.
The rail lists everything shared#
The rail on the home now carries three groups next to your projects: Shared with you, You're sharing, and Public links. A group only appears when it holds something. Each row leads with its picture: a link shows the preview card it published, a desk you share shows its snapshot. Under the name, one line says what it is: how many people joined a desk, whether a link is a photo or a book, and how many views it has.
Picking a row shows that share in the pane, and the address bar follows. Reload, or bookmark a share you check often, and you land back on the same one.
One limit: a desk someone shares with you has no thumbnail yet. A real preview would have to be rendered on the owner's machine, and that is not in yet, so the page it opens says so and offers the desk itself instead.
The desks in those first two groups are the live kind, where two people move the same photographs and leave comments on them.
Each share opens into its own page#
What the page holds depends on what you picked.
- A desk shared with you says who shared it, whether you can view or edit, how many photos and people are in it, and when you joined. Open the desk, or leave it.
- A desk you are sharing carries its invite link. Pick view or edit above it, then copy the link or press ↻ for a fresh one. A fresh link kills the old one, while people who already joined keep their access. Stop sharing ends it for everyone.
- A public link shows its address in a field with copy and open right beside it, then its title, its background, and the switch for your social links. The pictures stay as they were published. To refresh them after new edits, press Update on the Share card of the desk they came from.
The Share settings dialogs are gone. Settings for a thing you pick in a list belong on the page that shows it, not in a window over it.
A bookmarked share that has since been revoked gets one honest page saying so, and drops off the rail on the next reload.
Account settings move in#
Your name at the foot of the rail is a button now. Behind it sits the same Account panel the desk has: display name and your Instagram, Bluesky, and website, each saved the moment you leave the field. Your presence colour is here too, the one collaborators see beside your cursor and comments, and picking a hue saves it at once. A storage line says how much space your shares hold. Sign out and delete account are the exits, and signing out lands you on the sign-in page, not an empty room.
Also in this release#
- Signing in with a code no longer throws you straight back out. A refusal left over from before the sign-in cannot end the new session any more, and a slow request coming back refused no longer clears the fresh cookies.
- abney.cc is the one door now. Sign-in emails point there, and the app's internal address redirects there with your path and code intact, so links already sitting in inboxes still work.
- A shared photo's link preview card now names abney.cc as its address instead of the app's internal host.
- With nothing shared, the home says so in one line instead of showing a placeholder page.
- Link titles cap at 80 characters, which is the length the server actually keeps. Longer titles used to lose their tail silently on save.
